It’s about time we make plans for 2018. I’m not talking about new year resolutions because half the time, we tend to forget them a few days into the year, ain’t it?

What I’m referring to is this – plans to welcome 2018! This is for those who can’t afford to take leave because no more leave to take liao… or for those who can’t afford to leave Singapore due to personal reasons. And of course, our overseas friends who are making last minute plans to visit Singapore!

1. Park 22 Hotel Chinatown

Park 22 Hotel Chinatown is a 5-minute walk from Outram Park MRT station where you can take a train down to Harbourfront.

Stroll by Sentosa’s beaches or relax by the boardwalk which is gorgeous at night. If you want a better view of Singapore, take the cable car to Faber Peak Singapore and dine at Dusk Restaurant & Bar or Spuds & Aprons.

There are 101 things to do at Sentosa, and that’s the reason why there are called the state of fun. Oh right! There’s a 12-hour Siloso Beach Party on the last day of 2017 from 6 pm to 6 am, and you can get your tickets here.

Link Hotel is only a 10 minutes walk to Tiong Bahru MRT station where you can get food, clothes and everything else at Tiong Bahru Plaza.

For a change, you might want to visit the eateries and cafes down Seng Poh Road, Guan Chuan St and Yong Siak St. A few recommendations from me would be PS.Cafe Petit, Flock Cafe and Forty Hands. Check the map; they are just a stone throw away!

Park Hotel Alexandra is about a 13-minute walk to Queenstown MRT station, and you’re just 5 minutes away from IKEA meatballs.

Craving for local hawker food? Alexandra Village Food Centre is just right across. You can get some air conditioning at two shopping malls just around the corner – Queensway Shopping Centre and Anchorpoint.

4. The Seacare Hotel

The Seacare Hotel is a slightly far walk from Clarke Quay MRT station, which will take you about 15 minutes. But it’s one place you won’t regret.

Visit Clarke Central along the Singapore River, home to over 130 new retail stores & F&B outlets spread over five levels. If you have too much time to ‘waste’, I would suggest visiting Coffeemin where you can eat, drink, play by just paying for the time you spend there.

Or get your adrenaline pumping by trying on the GX-5 extreme swing which is sure to scare you right into 2018!

Accommodation: From $182/night for a double room

Address: 52 Chin Swee Road, Singapore 169875

Park 22 Hotel Little India is perfect for monochrome lovers and those who want to take pictures for the gram’. It’s located right beside Little India MRT station where Tekka Centre is at.

You can’t miss out on local Indian delights when you’re there. My personal favourite is Gurkha Palace where you will be greeted with Nepalese classical décor and authentic Nepalese and North Indian cuisines.

Walk off the calories and take a walk to Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopping centre that has literally everything.

I guess Orchard needs no introduction – catch a movie at Shaw Centre, have your coffee fix at Wheelock Place or splurge away at ION Orchard Mall. On the flipside, you can do some cheap shopping at Far East Plaza. They are all within the radius.

You’re less than 10 minutes away to 2 shopping malls – PoMo & Parklane. Inject some fun at The Mind Cafe where you get to play board games all day long! Don’t worry; they serve food too.

For dinner, you might want to consider I’m Kim Korean BBQ at SOTA. You can finish the night by eating ice cream at The Daily Scoop or watching a movie at The Cathay Cineplex.

Village Hotel Katong by Far East Hospitality is a 10 minutes drive or 25 minutes walk from Dakota MRT Station. It’s a little far to walk so maybe you can catch a bus, Grab or Uber over.

But good news because 112 Katong Mall is just 6 minutes away. Since you’re located on the East side, you won’t want to miss visiting East Coast Park.

Rent a bike overnight and countdown together with tons of people over at the beach! And you can’t end the night without seafood. Visit East Coast Food Village for hawker food or Jumbo Seafood if you can’t survive without aircon.

Accommodation: From $238/night for a double room

Address: 25 Marine Parade, Singapore 449536

At the time of writing, these hotels are still available for booking on 31 December 2017 so hurry if you don’t want to enter 2018 snacking away at home or squeezing with the crowd at Marina Bay Countdown 2018.
